The New Jersey Department of Transportation is planning the construction of a new interchange at Route 42 and College Drive.  In August 2006, McCormick Taylor Engineers and Planners completed an integrated land use and transportation study for the project area.  The purpose of the report was to develop ways to improve local and regional access, relieve congestion at existing Route 42 interchanges, create a plan for smart growth development of adjacent sites and provide transportation solutions for alternative modes such as buses, bicycles and pedestrians.

The interchange is expected to be a critical installment in the Township’s economic development program and alleviate major traffic congestion generated by Camden County College.  Vacant land adjacent to the project has the potential for future development. A major goal is to create a roadway network that can serve the entire community and promote pedestrian activity through mixed-use development.  The Township maintains communication with the Department of Transportation, property owners and other key stakeholders.
