WHAT TO RECYCLE

All recyclables should be placed at curbside (not in the street) so that they can be easily identified by the collection crews.
The yellow, 20-gallon bucket supplied by the Township is for glass, metal (refers to aluminum or ferrous metal cans) and plastic recyclables ONLY.  (No plastic bags).
The GTMUA began collection of all residential paper in 1996.  Residential paper should be put in a paper bag or tied with string (No plastic bags).  Please keep brush, leaves, and grass separate from these recyclables.

    * GLASS CONTAINERS that were previously used for food or beverages should be unbroken, empty, and rinsed. The labels can be left on, but the caps or lids should be discarded. The containers may be clear, brown, or green glass, but DO NOT INCLUDE drinking glasses, Pyrex, mirrors, window, auto glass, light bulbs, ceramics or any broken glass.

    * METAL CONTAINERS refer to aluminum, tin or bimetal food and beverage containers, but NOT scrap metals. Again, make sure these are empty and rinsed out. You can leave the labels on.

    * PLASTIC CONTAINERS that display either a #1 or #2 inside the triangle recycling emblem on the bottoms. These containers could have been used for juice, soda, water, milk and laundry detergent, but DO NOT INCLUDE butter tubs, flower pots, anti freeze or oil containers, laundry buckets, plastic bags, syringes, vinyl 5-gallon pails. Make sure the acceptable containers are empty and rinsed out. Labels may be left on, but caps should be discarded.

    * RESIDENTIAL PAPER refers to newspaper and all contents of the paper, including glossy paper inserts, catalogs, computer paper, envelopes, junk mail, magazines, office paper (including fax paper), text books (without hard covers), work books, but… DO NOT INCLUDE, chipboard boxes previously used for food or laundry and phone books. Also, all types of unwaxed/uncoated corrugated cardboard that is flattened (not larger than 3 feet by 2 feet) tied with string or put in a paper bag is acceptable.

    * BRUSH must be cut into 4-foot lengths and tied into bundles not to exceed 50 pounds each (as per Ordinance Chapter 58A). Brush will be collected during the week which includes a section's regular recycling day.

    * SOD OR DIRT will be collected during the week which includes a section's regular recycling day.

    * STUMPS are collected every 3-4 weeks: residents are to notify the Public Works Department (at 228-3144) PRIOR to PICK-UP.

    * GRASS CLIPPINGS will be collected on a weekly basis for seven months, from March 15 to October 15 (maximum of 20 bags per week); and on your regular recycling day from October 16 to the end of the grass season. Clippings should be put in a trash container or a trash bag and left untied.

    * LEAVES will be collected as follows: January 1 to March 14 - regular recycling day; March 15 to October 15 - weekly grass day (maximum of 20 bags per week); and October 16 to December 31 - fall leaf schedule. Residents are reminded to rake their leaves to the curbside ONLY during the fall leaf schedule.

OTHER RECYCLABLES

    * REFRIGERATORS, FREEZERS AND AIR CONDITIONERS are collected every Thursday. Residents are urged to call the Public Works Department in advance at   228-3144  for scheduling pickup at curbside. Please remove refrigerator and freezer doors prior to leaving appliance at curbside.

    * MOTOR OIL, CAR BATTERIES AND ANTIFREEZE may be brought to the Public Works Department at 1729 Erial Road (just past College Drive) for recycling. However, other hazardous waste will not be accepted. Residents should call Camden County Hazardous Waste at  858-5241  for information on the legal disposal of these materials.

    * CONCRETE, BRICK OR RUBBLE may also be disposed of at the Public Works garage, but there is no curbside pick up of this material. Residents must show the office personnel proof of Township residency and job-site verification.

TRASH COLLECTIONS

    * TRASH COLLECTION will continue on the present schedule. Residents are urged to follow the same collection guidelines as before. If you have any questions, please call Republic (234-4000).

    * TIRES will be collected at curbside with the regular weekly trash, but the metal rims must be removed, and only two (2) tires per household will be picked up each week.

    * LARGE METAL HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES, such as washing machines or stoves will be picked up at curbside on trash days.
