Schultz was born on March 16, 2007 in Slovakia. He was then imported to the USA by Jerry Bradshaw, owner of Tarheel K-9.  Schultz was purchased by the Gloucester Township Police Department in April 2008, from donated funds by residents of Gloucester Township.  Schultz was assigned to K-9 Handler / Trainer, Cpl. Mark Pickard. Schultz was trained in patrol work and graduated from the Camden County Police Academy K-9 Patrol Class in July 2008. Schultz then attended an additional 10 weeks of training to become a narcotics certified K-9. Schultz then hit the streets and began to locate narcotics and wanted felons. Schultz was also certified with the USPCA and won several awards. In September 2010 he placed second overall, and won first place in obedience, scent work and second place in agility. This certification was held in Pennsylvania. He then traveled to the USPCA National Field Trials on November 4, 2010, and placed 10th in the country overall.

On November 30, 2010 at approximately 7:04 pm, K-9 Schultz responded to a reported armed robbery. K-9 Schultz and Cpl. Pickard tracked the suspects for approximately ½ mile. Schultz then apprehended the suspect near Route 42 and State Street in Gloucester Township. The suspect then threw Schultz into oncoming traffic. Schultz was struck by a vehicle and was killed in the line of duty.

On December 9, 2010 the Gloucester Township Police Department, along with hundreds of other Law Enforcement Officers and K-9s, and the residents of Gloucester Township honored Schultz with a Memorial Service and Memorial sign dedication at Gloucester Township Community Park.
